Health Central Hospital Up For Sale

OCOEE, Fla. — Officials with Health Central Hospital in Ocoee announced Wednesday that they’ll work to join forces with a larger health care provider.

Hospital officials said increased pressure with federal health reform led to the decision, as well as the need to keep pace with improved technology and best physicians.

Health Central has been the only independent hospital in the Orlando area for more than a decade.

“It is essential that we continue to improve our position if we are going to achieve our vision, mission and objectives. Based on the challenges we are experiencing, and the storm clouds see on the horizon, our success requires that we do business differently in some ways,” Health Central Chief Executive Officer Richard Irwin said.

The hospital’s board of trustees will begin discussions with potential partners in the weeks ahead.
