COLUMBIA, S.C. – Spokespersons and program experts from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control are now available for media interviews on Skype.
DHEC’s Skype name is “dhec.news” and your station can add the agency as a contact at any time.
As with standard on-camera interviews, all Skype interviews should be requested by calling DHEC’s Division of Media Relations at (803) 898-3886.
National Jewish Health will Salute the Stars and Stripes in patriotic 1940s style at the Beaux Arts Ball on March 10. A portion of the money raised will fund the research and treatment of lung disease and injuries that veterans may face as they return from overseas deployments.
The black-tie or mess dress gala will take place at Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum, which was built on the former Lowry Air Force Base in 1939, the year World War II began. There, attendees will celebrate the USO with a 1940s-themed evening while surrounded by historic aircraft and aerospace technology. The 2012 Beaux Arts Ball will be hosted by Grand Marshals Colleen and Javier Baz, Sharon and Lanny Martin, and Sheila and Hassan Salem.

Gov. Jerry Brown’s office announced Sunday that the Democrat signed the bill which was written in response to a ballot measure proposed in San Francisco.
Backers of a ban collected more than 7,700 signatures to put a measure on the November ballot in San Francisco to outlaw the circumcision of most male children.

New research suggests that the combination of poverty and having diabetes during pregnancy significantly raises the risk of attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in a womans offspring.
Children born to such moms are as much as 14 times more likely to have ADHD by the age of 6, the study found. ADHD is a behavioral disorder characterized by difficulty focusing, impulsive behaviors and hyperactivity.
A report on the finding appears in the January issue of the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
The new study included 212 children.
